Meals at Camp Wayfarer

Camp life requires a lot of energy. That’s why proper nutrition and good summer camp food is so important at Wayfarer. We serve three hearty, nutritious meals as well as a midday snack. Nobody has ever left Camp Wayfarer hungry!

Each morning we may start off with a big breakfast of eggs, bacon and biscuits with gravy or possibly pancakes and sausage. We also offer milk, orange juice, assorted cereals, fruits, and yogurts. For lunch, we offer items such as grilled cheese and tomato soup or hot dogs and hamburgers.

For lunch and dinner we also have a salad bar! We offer a large variety of hot meals from Chicken Alfredo to taco salad for our evening meal. We encourage campers to try a variety of foods.

Much of our summer camp food is local and our culinary class actually cooks a meal for the entire camp. This is one of our highlights as our ‘cooking campers’ understand the reward from hard work when all of Wayfarer stands in applause at the end of an awesome meal.

Wayfarer serves meals in a traditional family style and campers serve as table waiters. Meals are a favorite time at camp. The fellowship and ordered chaos are awesome! We have time to reflect and share our “Golden Moments.” Our campers are instructed in basic table manners and engage in good conversation. Meals are always opened with thanks and usually closed with song. After many evening programs, the children are treated to milk and cookies!!

CAMP WAYFARER HEALTH & WELLNESS

Here at Camp Wayfarer, we have a registered nurse living on campus at all times. She is a nurse but she is also a ‘camp mom’ who is looking out for the well being and safety of all of our campers. During the check in process on the first day of your session, each camper will meet with the nurses for a wellness check. Parents may take this time to discuss any pertinent information as well as leave all medications at the infirmary.

Each day after morning meal and evening meal campers with medications will meet the nurse and be given whatever is prescribed to that camper. No prescriptions or OTC medications of any kind are allowed in the cabin. Rest assured that your children are getting excellent medical care and attention while they are with us.
