Established in 1991, Camp Wayfarer is a family-like community consisting of campers, counselors, alumni and parents.

Averaging 200 campers per session, we are intentionally smaller than most overnight summer camps. We find this size allows for a deeper connection with campers, helping them not only succeed in their camp experience, but in life beyond Camp Wayfarer.

Our primary mission is to have all members of our camp community strive to be the best possible version of themselves. Camp Wayfarer is a family, and we look forward to welcoming your family to our family!

The four main elements in our mission statement of “…being the best possible version of yourself…” are centered around strengthening four main developmental areas:  mental, spiritual, social, and physical selves.  Your camper will learn to navigate real-world issues by developing self-confidence, putting others first, and appreciating the world around them.  They will learn to work things out for themselves, all while being mentored by our outstanding, first-team all-American staff.

We are located on 60 acres of beautiful Blue Ridge mountains just outside of Asheville, NC. Our camp location in North Carolina allows for easy access to world class excursions in Pisgah National Forest, Dupont State Forest, The Blue Ridge Parkway, and so much more! The Wayfarer Difference

Camp Wayfarer is happily a device-free camp.  We have found that campers are thankful to be away from the constant pressures of social media. Here at Wayfarer, campers connect on a personal level. They have great conversations at meals instead of looking at their phones.  They play outside all day. They live for evening programs of Capture the Flag or Counselor Hunt or so many more fun nights.  They enjoy cookies and milk before ending the day with cabin devotions.  Who isn’t going to find their true selves in this environment?  Children are allowed to be kids at camp.   They are relieved, and we see the relief on their faces every day! Camp is a gift.  And what a life-long gift it is…
